Chamber Pots ‘o Power

All local Chamber of Commerce organizations were the original breeding ground, the grooming beds, the genesis of churning out these bleating, beatified corporate-fed sheep. Tools of big business, these Chambers predictably drew some fine, decent people who were “civic-minded” and believed in helping the “little guy” — at the beginning.

Then, as time passed, the subtle changes in who was recruited to form these anchors of conservatism were stealth. Seduced by middle-management-type pseudo-power — these organizational minions acted as buffers between the cities’ and towns’ big-monied…
